Hillsborough County Jail

Clothing

Interview with Aaron and Jessica

JM: What types of clothes were most common?
Aaron: People could order white shirts and shorts but mainly everyone wore their orange outfits.
Jessica: When I first went in, I was in my own clothes, but 2 days later I had to wear a uniform to go to court, and stayed in the uniform after that.

JM: Did you have a set uniform? What did it look like?
Aaron: Orange pants and shirt which we were able to exchange daily since we had a washer and dryer in our pod.
Jessica: It was an orange jumpsuit and orange slip on shoes.

JM: Were there any assigned clothes in high demand that an inmate should look for when getting clothing assigned?
Aaron: Bigger sizes were in high demand but we had laundry done 2-3 times a day so there were always enough to go around. I always hung on to an extra uniform set so I could have a bigger pillow (extra stuffing).
Jessica: bigger clothes were hard to come by, but being a smaller person, it wasn't an issue.

JM: Was the clothing different between men and women?
Aaron: Everyone I saw wore orange outfits so I guess everyone wore the same kinds of clothing. (Orange top, orange pants, orange socks and orange shoes).
Jessica: When i was in court, the women had the same uniforms as the men did.
